In this thesis, we attempted to make a critical review on the relevant facts reported during 1985-2004. This thesis is composed as follows. In Chapter 1, a brief historical background of C60 is introduced. In Chapter 2, different proposed mechanisms were presented in chronological order. Analysis and categorization of these mechanisms were presented in Chapter 3. A concluding remark is drawn in Chapter 4.
