Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 94 === With the improvement of personal income in Taiwan, the purchasing power of people is increasing than ever before. This situation has brought about an advance towards specialization, differentiation and chained development in wholesale and retail industry in Taiwan. The former researches were neither unable to know completely what the management efficiency of wholesale and retail industry was, nor the reasons caused the difference. At the same time, the former researches almost focused on single sub-industry of wholesale and retail industry and evaluated the efficiency merely by types of merchandise. Therefore this study uses the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) as the tool to evaluate the efficiency among general wholesale and retail trade, department stores, supermarkets and convenient stores and retail outlets. This thesis examines 33 samples, which derived data from 2002 to 2004 of related industries to calculate the management efficiency in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Besides, the net income is adapted as the output and fixed asset, capital, operational expense are selected as the inputs. The cross-model is used to know the objective efficiency considering all DMUs (Decision Making Units) and the Malmquist productivity index is used to know the fluctuation of efficiency. The findings show that operational expense is the most important factor affecting the efficiency. The efficiency of convenient stores and supermarkets is the best among all sub-industries. But the efficiency of department stores is the worst. The average Malmquist productivity index of general wholesale and retail trade is the best.
