The purposes are as follows: 1. To evaluate teachers’ information literacy of the junior high school and elementary school in Yi-Lan. 2. To evaluate the relationship of teachers’ background variables to information literacy amongst junior high school and elementary school teachers. 3. To evaluate teachers’ information literacy and its relationship with regional gap. In order to achieve these purposes, the study constructs the contents of information literacy by literature review, namely computer using competency, Internet using competency, hardware and software competency, information morality, and competency of utilizing information technology instruction. The study was conducted by means of questionnaire analysis based on the five contents of information literacy. Questionnaires titled “Quesionnaire of the junior high school and elementary school teachers’ informational literacy in Yi-Lan County” were distributed to public junior high school and elementary school teachers around I-lan County. Stratified sampling was used to obtain valid questionnaires. The data were analyzed by average, standard deviation, t-test method, ANOVA, and Scheffe method. Major findings are: 1. Junior high school and elementary school teachers in Yi-Lan are information competent. 2. The variables of gender, age, education background, information background, junior or elementary school teacher, seniority, concurrent administration position, and personal use PC at work affect teachers’ information literacy in Yi-Lan. 3.
