Description
Summary:碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計系碩士班 === 94 === Abstract The purpose of this research study is to investigate how to apply and test the effects of bionic product designs. By adopting the cognitive elements regarding form and product category that general publics may possess, the researcher creates bionic products for further analysis. That is, by conducting face to face questionnaire survey towards general publics, the data regarding their degrees of cognitions related to the bionic products were collected for both quantitative and qualitative data analyses. At first, based on the initial exploration of bionic designs, currently available bionic products were shown to the general publics and their cognitive elements for form and function judgments were investigated by questionnaire. Also based on the results, innovative products were created and their models were made for testing purposes. The testing process includes the observation of both partial characteristics and overall styles. The relationships were investigated as well. The results indicated that all the five bionic products were viewed as possessing bionic images by the general publics. Based on observing the participants, the researcher knew that the general publics would take the overall styles as the bases for judging if the product possesses bionic images. Nonetheless, if the overall styles were not clear to view, the participants will use the product’s partial characteristics, textures, etc. for association purpose. In addition, the product’s spatial sense and potential functions were used for judging bases pertinent to product category. This process is strongly affected by an individual’s life experience. During the process of creating bionic product design, the transformations of natural forms into real products regarding spatial and functional considerations were one of the most difficult processes. The dilemma between abstract and concrete forms should be carefully considered. During the design process, natural forms were abstractly represented based on the hope that the general publics can understand their invisible attraction and product insights. Therefore, the associations among context, sensation, functional characteristics and natural forms were used to help generate creative design ideas. It is hoped that by so doing can help inspire future designers.
