The local residents unite their family and patriarchal chan , let the blood relation sincere ,promote neighbors peaceful , strengthen the relation among partriarchals and between the partriarchal and society , by the activities and ceremonys of worship. The kinmen residents notice the new generation’s education and hope them have outstanding achievement in the field of morality ,scholarship, official performance and passing examination . these achievements will bring honor to their ancestors , increase the reputation of their patriarchal chan. 1)Chapter 1 preface - to state the thesis’s reason , purpose , scope , frame and the document which is used to expound the relation between the kinmen ancestral shrine and the resident social life . 2) Chapter 2 the distribution of the kinmen ancestral shrine - kinmen has 170 ancestral shrines . it’s gross area is 150 square kilometer. It has 165 nature villages and 60 thound population . it’s ratio (kimen ancestral shrines per area , villages and population). It has 3 features, first it’s building types are classical and graceful ; second it’s carving and dressing is magnificent; third the main beam is delicate, fastened and real. It reserve the conventional social culture. 3) Chapter 3 kar’s environment and culture - the famous confucianist ZhuXi was the educational leader of Tongan province at the Sung Dynasty. The writing’s style of this province grew up . their virtue which was taughed by ZhuXi became well . they cherished the sense of propriety and justice . their daily life , included people’s relation, social behavior standard , birth , marriage, funeral and burial manner was according ZhuXi’s《the manners of family 》to do. 4)Chapter 4 – the foundation of kimen ancestral shrine. People work in agriculture field during the traditional society . the community are composed by the people of the same blood relation . several generations lived together . we can know it’s inner spiritual culture by studying the history of it’s traditional society . 5) chapter 5- the settling and peaceful ceremony of kimen ancestral shrine. The ceremony is ceremonious and complicated . it include universal thought , religional emotion , ethics standard , social custom . patriarch and family ruler . for example , it notice the red announce paper diety , the building’s foundation diety and the land diety. If everything has profit to human being’s life , the local residents believe it a denizen of the afterworld and worship it . 6) chapter 6 - confering kimen ancestral shrine;s building , carving , decoration and painting . kimen ancestral shrine’s stone structure is detailed, it’s material is exquisite. It belong to the type of palace. It’s beams are carved and dressed . it’s eaves are stacked up . it is too many beautiful . we can see the excellent wisdom from it’s wood strcture. It fit the mechanicism of building . The craftmen showed their genius . kimen ancestral shrine is solemn , grand , gorgeous , and classic . we can see the generation’s gratitude for ancestor and the entreatment hoping the clan;s development from the carving and decoration . 7) chapter 7 – the conferring of the inscribed board and a couplet written. The social meaning of the board and couplet is deep . it let new generation understand eghics , teach them devotion , incourage them to fellow the ancestor’s virtue , hope them to increase the patriarchal clan lintel , hope them to repay the favor , hope them carefully to attend the funeral rites of parents . we make the inscribed board for the ancestor’s virtue, passing national examination and official achievement . these is the medal of honer , the model for the new generation to learn and increase the ancestral shrine’s status and position . 8) chapter 8 conclusion –the wood structure of kimen ancestral shrine is smart . the decoration of it’s main door is beautiful . the deity shrine of worshiping hall is carved exquisitely . the kimen ancestral shrine is not only the center of faith , but also the essence of the southern part of Fukien province and the treasure of Chinese traditional wood structure . today the wood is running out . the artisans are withered . the status of kimen ancestral shrine is moro and more important . it is the human being’s common cultural assets . we shall realize , cherish and protect it .
