However, as the world has a rapidly growing aging population, more and more attention must be paid to product design and development for elder people. Designer should understand the change of aged function, including older adults’ abilities and limitation in psychology and physiology, so that they can design product which can satisfy older adults need. In order to enhance older adults’ operating efficiency, and so as to enhance task performance and to abate accident rate, it is quite necessary to improve the quality of product design with ergonomic approach. There were four experiments and an evaluated redesign in this study. Experiment I examine the influence on visual performance of luminance contrast, exposure time and number of elements. Results showed that enhanced luminance contrast and exposure time improved discriminating performance for elderly people; Experiment II examines the influence of visual of spacing between targets, exposure time and number of elements in a target on elderly people’s performance. The results showed that enhanced spacing between targets and exposure time improved separation discrimination performance by elderly people. However, although separation discrimination performance increased as spacing between targets increased up to 12 points, it degraded at higher values. Experiment III investigates the effects of color combinations of lines/ background and text/background on reading performance. Results showed that five better color combinations of lines/background, including white/cyan, cyan/yellow, red/white, blue/white, red/yellow; and text/background, were cyan/red, red/yellow, orange/cyan, green/yellow, blue/green which have improved accuracy rate, Experiment IV examines the influence of numeral size, spacing between targets and exposure time. The results showed, enhanced numeral size and spacing between targets improved separation discrimination performance. Finally, according to the results of Experiment III, two visual displays were redesigned and evaluated to make sure that they can improve the visual performance of elder people. 作者未提供 黃國珍 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 90 zh-TW
