It is also the best choice for owners and their dogs to play together and to increase their relationships. Based on the above observations, the study aim is to research in setting up dog runs in an urban park area. A “Dog Run” is planed for dogs, and is an “Off-Leash Area” which is an area set up where dogs can recreate unleashed with their owners. The objects of this study are users of the Da-An Forest Park. This research use three methodologies including: Literature review、Semi structured interviewing、and Questionnaire survey. As the result, the meanings of dog runs are as follows: (1) For dogs: Dogs can improve physiological health by activating with owners and other dogs. (2) For owners: To increase owners and dogs’ relationship. If dogs are healthy, owners can reduce expense on the medical treatment. And owners can change their raising experiences with each other. (3) For society: Professionals suggests that setting up dog runs can not only solve the problem of stray dogs, but also decrease the environment pollution. It can increase interpersonal relationship and social education. People consider that after setting up a dog run, the park will be 1.more sociable、2.more recreational、3.more active. Besides, the results of this study indicate that: People’s different using distinctions and backgrounds correlate with the level of people’s dog run demand、accession、percept and planning ideas of dog runs. The levels of people’s dog run demand and accession are middle. Most people approve dog runs should be designed by semi-open path, administered by professed persons, has stated open-time and no age limited. People consider that the first setting factor is “public hygiene” and the most important amenities are “pooper scooper stations” and “excretion area”. These opinions are the same with professionals’. Most people agree to set up a dog run in the Da-An Forest Park, but they lack confidence in owners’ equipment and the park management. Therefore, the government has to cooperate with the animal protectors and community volunteers, educate owners and establish their moralities.
