Articles on newspapers and web blogs are recruited to be analyzed in light of narrative analysis, argumentative structure and interpretation. The findings revealed that the represented images of foreign brides in the news events have apparently shifted from the “silent social troublemakers” to the protestants standing out against the social stigmatization. Under the depictions of bloggers, foreign brides have gradually shed the old images and endeavored to establish new ones as priceless social assets in future. In addition, their social status has been exhibited as real “the Self”, instead of “the exotic other”. Comparatively, foreign brides show much less voice in blogs, in which people are supposed to possess full right to voice themselves, than in newspaper. Though everyone has the right to declare in blogs, language barrier and cultural maladjustment very likely prevents the tremendous foreign brides from using this public tool. Most foreign brides seem to get no accessibility and the digital gap is significant. Either in Journalism or Blogs, in essence, the spirits of multicultural consilience and mutual respect are fermenting in Taiwan. The emergent voices from Blog space have broken the rule of traditional one-way thinking. Besides, diverse images and social positions of foreign brides are represented apparently in this mutli-communication channels context. Shin-Jui Tung 董時叡 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 126 zh-TW
