| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 中國文學系碩博士班 === 94 === This thesis investigated the short mythological novel “Liu He Nei Wai Suo Yan” and the author Tu Shen (1744 - 1801). Whole thesis was divided into six chapters and the main statement described in chapter two to five.
Chapter two examined Tu Shen’s friendship and life from all of his literature as well as observed in documents to conclude that his personality was full of creativeness. This personality affected his writing talent including lots of literary language, resplendent in phrase and poems in the mythological novel.
Chapter three studied the writing background of “Liu He Nei Wai Suo Yan” to discuss the originality and influence to the following works of Tu Shen such as “Zuan Yi Ji”, “Chen Chung Ji”, “Ling Kuai Chi”, ”Nan Ke Ji”, “Liao Zhai Zhi Yi”, ”Ye Yu Chiu Deng Lu”.
Chapter four classified the 165 stories in “Liu He Nei Wai Suo Yan” into five categories: 1. mysteriousness and evil spirits, 2. extraordinary affairs, 3. adventures, 4. inspiration from ancient stories, and 5. others. The beginning and subsequence of these stories were carefully inspected to find out the conception presented in the stories.
Chapter five applied the theory of novel to analyze the artistry of “Liu He Nei Wai Suo Yan” from the characteristics of narration, the structure and plots, character manners, and phrases to reveal the artistic quality of this novel.
This thesis examines the whole value, gain and loss of “Liu He Nei Wai Suo Yan” from each aspect above, in order to restore the evaluation that it should has on the Chinese novel history.
