Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 會計學系碩博士班 === 94 === Due to the trend of internationalization and multinational corporations, companies achieve the operating targets of increasing their firm sizes, indirectly investing in Mainland China, and implementing international tax planning by investing in offshore companies. Thus, companies evolve to the operating mode of conglomerates from the mode of single-firm. Meanwhile, companies have strong preference of investing in Tax Heaven. The purpose of the study is to investigate the motivations anddeterminants of companies establishing offshore companies in Tax Heaven. Our sample is Taiwan’s public companies in 2004, and our methodology is using the model of investment of tax heaven to examine whether firm size, company’s international composition, related party transaction, industry property, and restrictive investment are determinants of companies investing in Tax Heaven. The empirical results indicate that companies with large size and more global composition or with restrictive investment prefer to invest in Tax Heaven. In addition, companies in electronic industry are more likely to invest in Tax Heaven than companies in non-electronic industry do.
