In general, organizational changes are likely to increase uncertainty and role stress and then involve improved work conditions, for such job characteristics as job autonomy and job challenge are also likely to exist. Working in an environment that is confronted with suchlike changes may have important implications for burnout and engagement of the employees. Social support and coping strategy provide valuable resources to combat the negative effects of strain. The purports of this study are: (1) examining the relationship between job demand and job control on burnout or engagement; (2) examining the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between job demand and job control on burnout or engagement; (3) examining the moderating effect of coping style on the relationship between job demand and job control on burnout or engagement. Our research object is aimed at staffs of banks in Taiwan by purposive sampling. There are684 valid questionnaires are empirically analyzed by applying the methods of hierarchical regression analysis. The research results show that: (1) job control will moderate the negative relationships between job demand and burnout or engagement; (2) social support will buffer the negative relationships between job demand and burnout or engagement when job control is high; (3) job control will buffer the negative relationships between job demand and burnout or engagement among works with approach coping.
