The leading roles on the pictures are usually the celebrities and idols. What realization and response would our youths living in such a world of pictures have when pictures coming before their eyes? This study adopts the method of qualitative research, taking 7 students in the art class of a junior high school as the cases, undergoes in-depth interviews, investigates their responses to and artistic expressions of their loved idols, and hence understand their identities reflected in their responses and expressions. Therefore, the objectives of this study are as follows: (a) to analyze related theories on visual culture and medium images; (b) to investigate the participants’ responses to and artistic expressions of pictures of their idol's pictures; and (c) analyse the participants' identities reflected in their responses and artistic expressions; and (d) based on research results, provide recommendations of art education and its future follow-up research. The findings of this study include: (a)As for the participants' response to own idol's pictures, they have the pre-engaged notion, indicating not allowed to be changed or replaced. (b) As for the participants' artistic expression of idols, the works are mainly in realistic style. More emphasis are put on form than content in their works, indicating visual impression of form are relatively important in their works or even in their identification. (c) The participants have high identification toward their loved idols, and are quite confident in their own judgment. There seems to be less confusion in identification. (d) More influence about positive notion and behaviors from idols to participants are found. Like wants to be a similar person to idols. There's ideal self-identity on this issue.
