Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 家庭教育研究所 === 94 === Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the parent-children relationship and life adjustment of the high elementary students. The study was conducted through a survey questionnaire.There were 386 5-6th grade students from elementary schools in Yunlin-Hsien designated and 361 sample were valid. The instruments used in the study included Parent-Child Relationship Scale and Life Adjustment Scale. The collected data was analyzed and interpreted by means of descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression. The findings of the study were concluded as follows: 1. The life adjustment of the elementary school students was at middle and high level. 2. The life adjustment of the female students was significantly better than those of the male students. 3. There were significant differences among different socio-economic status of the high elementary students in life adjustment. The life adjustment of the middle socio-economic status students was significantly better than those of the low socio-economic status students. 4. The parent-adolescent relationship had a direct and positive relationship to the life adjustment. 5. The subscales of ”Friendly,“Interaction”,and “Independence” in Parent-Child Relationship Scale and “gender” can explain 48.4 percent of the predicted variability of the life adjustment scale. According to the findings, this study provides some suggestions for parents, the relative workers of family education and school education.
