| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 族群關係與文化研究所 === 94 === For the “coming out” issue of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered people to “come out”, there must be some background and conditions. This thesis is based on the author’s personal sexual identity, and then to approach the individual and gathering coming out issue in Huallien Marah LGBT Christian Fellowship.
In Chapter One, the author tells his own story, and explains the research methods.
In Chapter Two, the thesis separately discusses the theory of compulsory heterosexuality and the theory of “Queer”, and the practice and meaning of these two theories in Taiwanese society. In addition, this chapter describes the social context and coming out barrier for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered people in Taiwan.
In Chapter Three, the researcher talks about the coming out experience of the founder of Marah Fellowship and come out with four kind of “area and object for coming out”: Coming out in intimate sisterhood, coming out in parent-and-child generational relationship, coming out in the power relationship between teacher and student, and coming out in the power relationship in church. It is found that among these four, intimate relationship and power relationship have important effect on coming out.
In Chapter Four, there are five coming out experiences from five gay people in Huallien. This chapter approaches the problems of coming out in their personal relations, such as families, schools, work places, churches, etc.; demonstrates the use of personal resources and methods in the coming out process; and discuss the impacts that Chinese culture values puts on Taiwanese contemporary society.
Chapter Five is about the gathering coming out experience of the Marah Fellowship. It analyzes the two key elements which have much effect in that experience: media and space, and the characters of the LGBT community in Huallien are being analyzed as well.
In Chapter Six, the gay self identified author concludes the thesis and makes a claim to the whole society.
