Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 職業繼續教育研究所 === 94 === abstract The purpose of this study was to understand the actual practice of the character education in elementary schools of Hsin-chu county. A questionnaire of "The Practice of Character Education in Elementary Schools” was administered to a sample of 780 elementary school teachers in Hsin-chu county;689(88.33%)were valid. Data was analyzed with SPSS using descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA. The results of this study were as followings: 1. The attitude of the Elementary teachers in Hsin-chu county was positive to the character education 2. There was association among the categories of the practice for character education. 3. There were significant differences in the practice for character education among different years of service, school size. Significant differences were found between the academic degree and school location for improving teachers’ knowledge of character education. For the method of character education there was a significant difference in age。 4.Difcenties are:lack of training of character education, lack of the material of character education, lack of the official class for character education, lack of the support from school, parents, and society. 5.Suggestions here included the following: enriching students’ guides for daily life,setting up character education on education of living , integrating ideas of character in activities, using character education for classroom management , cooperating between parents and teachers.
