Traditionally, tour leaders are selected based on industry managers'' personal knowledge, experience and judging. However, this selection method is restricted due to its great uncertainty and subjectivity. This study applied Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to build up a tour leader selection evaluation system using empirical data obtained from travel agency managers.     The main finding include: 1. Tour leader selection evaluation system: An evaluation system consisting of 4 main dimensions (i.e. Professional Knowledge, Pratical competence, Contingency Ability, Personal Characteristics ) and 12 attributes indictors was constructed.. 2. .Implications for the tour leader selection evaluation system: Among 4 main dimensions, Practical Competence(0.3547) appers to be most important dimension where Contingency Ability (0.2032) is the least. Overall, the first six important indicators are: journey management ( 0.1409), interpretation skill ( 0.1193), communication skill ( 0.1115), abundant travel knowledge ( 0.1058).     The proposed evaluation system of the study is founded on management science. It is expects to provide the travel industry useful tool for their decision-making on tour leader selection, and furthermore lead to a quality service.
