train is extremely important in transport operation. The train maintenance is the basis
of guaranteeing the train travel security, therefore the factors considered in the train
maintenance and the maintenance strategy is very important. An appropreiate
maintenance strategy may enhance train security when trains move and be helpful for
railroad operation performance. This research was to present a method for rolling
stock’s maintenance strategy selection that allows for the consideration of important
interactions among decisions levels and criteria. The methodology adopted Analytic
Network Process (ANP) for this evaluation to decide the possible ratio between
preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance that could induce possible spares
parts quantities and replacement interval of component of rolling stock.
This research focused on Taiwan Railway, Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and
Taiwan High Speed Rail. The result indicated preventive maintenance should be
much more emphasized than corrective maintenance. Two criteria “Assure workers
and the passenger’s safety “and” Assure rolling stock safety “ received more attention,
which showed that safety was the most crucial factor for rolling stock maintenance
strategy selection.. Finally, the possible ratio between preventive maintenance and
corrective maintenance of the train maintenance strategy computed from the ANP
method estimated the possible spares parts quantities and replacement interval of
component of rolling stock for.the model 321 of MRT current collecting shoe,
EMU500, and EMU600 of Taiwan Railway current collecting slice.
