Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 環境教育研究所 === 94 === The study aimed to explore the views of Nature and environmental values held by the participants who volunteered to help the ecological research project at the Nanzeshen creek area in the Yushan National Park. Participants worked in a natural forest, learned the plant inventory methods, and had opportunities to discuss with ecologists and peers in the 7-day program. The program included fieldwork, lecture, training courses, group discussions, and a half-day field trip. There were 59 participants whose age ranged from 15 to 59. The analysis criteria of participants’ views of nature and environmental values were based on the categorization developed by Stephen Kellert (1999). This study employed the qualitative research methods. Data included participants’ journals with guided questions, formal and informal interviews, reflection papers, and autobiographies. The research findings are: 1. Providing the opportunities for the public to participating in long time ecological research: In addition to experiencing “learning by doing”, the participants relaxed themselves in the meantime, and they understood the relationship between human and the nature. Furthermore, they were willing to care about the nature. The outcome was more important than just acquiring for plant inventory skills in the natural environment. 2. The social environmental education is the best way to form the values: Human values development is the process of socialization, which is established by correct social environmental education. Therefore, the authorities can emphasize the informal education to cultivate peoples’ views in the future. 3. Participants can promote their environmental protection behaviors after participating in the long-term ecology research: Values education, that is, belief education, is the combination education of cognition and emotion. However, people’s values can be performed by alternative actions. Through participating in the long-term ecology research, their views will account for their behaviors in environmental protection.
