Hualien is a special place with beautiful scenery and pure water. Geographically, it is a separate county. Because of this, the development here is very slow and unique. Furthermore, the competitive ability of the traditional agriculture is so weak that farmers in Hualien would rather stop farming than spending too much time and energy on the farm. Surprisingly, the way that they stopped farming makes the land fertilizing. That’s why we say it is a good place for the farmers to produce organic vegetables and unpolluted agriculture. The Hualien County Government realizes that most farmers here had a hard time in planting crops and the authority really wants to help these farmers out of this trouble. They take this responsibility for granted and have the movement called “Organic farming Methods”. The Government of Hualien County puts this into practice by combining the organic products and the leisure agriculture with the tourism in Hualien. They want to make Hualien a famous site for visitors to enjoy their leisure time in a healthful way.
This study investigated the needs and cognition of the tourists in the leisure farms in Hualien County to figure out the connection between the tourist’s need and leisure farms’ development in healthful experience, and it can be a reference for the owners of leisure farm and government’s agricultural department.
Results of this research:
1. The researcher asked the visitors in Hualien a question: ” What kind of activities are good for our health?” Their choices are below in order: “Riding a bicycle”, “Eating and picking the organic vegetables or fruits”, “Enjoying the natural scenery on the farm”, “ Living B&B (Bed & Breakfast) on the farm”, “Experiencing the simple life on the farm”, “Taking exercise or SPA”, “Organic foods and drinks” and “Breathing exercise or Yoga”.
2. These visitors have strong demands below: “Riding a bicycle”, “Eating and picking the organic vegetables or fruits”, “Enjoying the natural scenery on the farm”, “Living B&B (Bed & Breakfast) on the farm”, “Experiencing the simple life on the farm”.
3. Giving a name of the element’s extraction of the tourists’ needs and cognition of experience on keeping in healthy condition can be divided into “massage”,” medical foods and drinks”,” leisure life on the farm”,” breathing exercise” and “farming works”.
4. Because the difference of visitors’ character of population, there is a obvious
difference in the cognition of keeping in healthy condition.
