A structuralized questionnaire was used as the research instrument, and total 911 students who from two senior high schools and two vocational high schools in the Chungli area were participated. , The data was analyzed by SPSS12.0, descriptive analysis, t-test, Pearson’s correlation and stepwise regression were applied as the statistic strategies. The research results showed that (1)the number of girls was larger than boys in total population. The subjects were evenly distributed in each schooling year in the two kinds of senior high schools but the subjects of the first grade were slightly more than others. All the subjects were evenly distributed in the two high school systems. (2)The life adjustment problems they face were academic performance, future development, psychological problems, interpersonal relationships, money management, time management and daily living problems concerning food and living. (3)The subjects of the two high school systems showed a difference in their adjustment problems; also, the subjects of different genders, schooling years and socio-economic status showed different adjustment problems. The subjects at the third grade of senior high schools worried about their academic performance most. The subjects of the third grade and the subjects of intermediate socio-economic status cared most about their future development. Boys were prone to worry about their interpersonal relationships more than their counterparts. The third grade subjects, subjects of lower socio-economic status tended to had more money management problems. Subjects of the third grade had more time management problems. The third grade subjects of vocational high school and male subjects had more interpersonal relationships problems. The third grade subjects had more money problems. Male subjects had more problems in time management. (4) All the subjects of the two high school systems were satisfied with their current physical-mental health state. As for the variation of physical-mental state, the female subject of the third grade in senior high had more problems dealing with it. Generally, the subjects of senior high school tended to have more problems than those of vocational high school. (5)The subjects of the vocational high school third grade had more physical-mental health problems. The subjects of third grade had more physical-mental health problems than those of the rest grades.(6) As for the correlation between the individual background and life adjustment problems, except psychological problems, there was a significant difference between the two with regard to each problems the subjects were faced with. (7) As for the correlation between the individual background and physical-mental health, the subjects of different high school system and schooling grades showed a significant difference. (8)Also,the life adjustment problems showed positive correlation with physical-mental health. (9)Psychological problems, time management, food and living problems, school system,and school grade account for 33% of the physical-mental health total variance. The results suggested that more about time management can be part of the curriculum or health enhancing activities. The school authority may design courses and activities concerning psychological problems, interpersonal relationship problems and life counseling for subjects of different schooling years, schooling system and different genders to help high school students better handle life adjustment problems and improve physical-mental health.
