Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 94 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of general case method on the learning of shopping skills for junior high school students with moderate to severe mental retardation. The students were three 13 to 16 years old junior high school students with moderate to severe mental retardation. The single subject research across subjects with multiple probe design was used. The independent variable was general case method and the dependent variable was the percent of correct response of shopping skills. Data were collected on the three subjects during baseline, intervention, generalization, and maintenance phases. Visual analysis was used to analyze the effectiveness of the training, and social validity analysis using interviews with related individuals were also supplemented.
Results of this study were summarized as followings:
1. The general case method is effective on the acquisition of
shopping skills for the junior high school students with
moderate to severe mental retardation.
2. The general case method is effective in generalizing
shopping skills to other community stores and productions.
2. The general case method is also effective in maintaining
the shopping behavior change for at least 4 weeks.
4. Interviews with related individuals have indicated that
this research has a high social validity.
