The sampling population of this research is composed of fifth and sixth grade vegetarian students of 33 elementary schools from Kaohsiung. The final valid samplers are 102(fifth-grade students: boy=17, girl=32, mean age 10.61 ± 0.49 years; sixth-grade students: boy=22, girl=31, mean age 11.70 ± 0.46 years). The tool to examine the result is based on the items listed in the Physical Fitness Passport The Republic of China. Data was treated with t test, and conclusions are as following: 1. Except the sixth-grade boy students, the height and weight of the fifth-grade boys and girls and sixth-girls in Kaohsiung are at or above the 50th percentile of the national BMI norm, only the height of the fifth-grade girls is significantly greater than the reference standards. 2. The result is further evaluated, the body mass index of the fifth and sixth-grade vegetarian students is criticized「Medium」, bent-knees sit-up, modified sit-and-reach test, 800 meters run-walk test, and standing long-jump test is estimated「Moderate」respectively. We can therefore conclude that the present physical fitness of vegetarian children results in normal. 3. For fifth and sixth-grade boys and girls, the score in explosive strength (standing long-jump test) is below the national BMI norm; only the fifth-grade girls’ score significantly lower than the reference standards. We found no significantly differences in BMI values, bent-knees sit-up, modified sit-and-reach test and 800 meters run-walk test. As the results of the study, the height and weight of vegetarian students are greater. The physical fitness of vegetarian students, except explosive strength is below the national BMI norm, the body mass index, muscular endurance, flexibility and cardio-respiratory endurance are in normal range.
