Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 運動與健康研究所 === 94 === The purpose of this study is to be a useful reference to set up the training programs & courses by determining the competencies of C-Class orienteering coaches to realize the need to strengthen specific professional skills. A questionnaire survey was used with 117 (60%) valid returns from 195 coaches in Taiwan. Data analysis was done by descriptive analysis and T-test. The results of this study are as followed: 1.Majority of C-Class coaches are male with age in 20 to 39, graduated from college or university, but not majored in Physical Education. More than half are teachers and live in Kaohsiung City. They have been orienteering coach for less than 1 year and do not offer any guidance to the orienteering player or team currently. 2.The competency of C-class orienteering coach is classified to 7 categories covering 54 professional skills which are considered as important and essential. 3.As per the importance of the 7 categories of competencies to C-class orienteering coach, it is ranked from most important to less as followed. Basic Technique and Training of Orienteering, Applying Skills & Tactics in the Orienteering Match, Ability of Injure Protect and Orienteering Management, Ability to Program and Proceed Orienteering Training, The Training of Orienteering Mentally and Physically, The Origin and Develop of Orienteering & The Theory of Orienteering Training. 4.All these competencies are considered as essential but need to be improved. Rank from the most specialized to less, it is Basic Technique and Training of Orienteering, Ability of Injure Protect and Orienteering Management, The Origin and Develop of Orienteering, Applying Skills & Tactics in the Orienteering Match, The Training of Orienteering Mentally and Physically, Ability to Program and Proceed Orienteering Training & The Theory of Orienteering Training. 5.4 categories are evaluated more important by coaches majored in Physical Education than others who are not. These categories are The Theory of Orienteering Training, The Training of Orienteering Mentally and Physically, Ability of Injure Protect and Orienteering Management & Ability to Program and Proceed Orienteering Training. 6.Male coaches evaluated more specialized than female in Applying Skills & Tactics in the Orienteering Match. Coaches majored in Physical Education are evaluated more specialized than others who are not in 4 categories, The Theory of Orienteering Training, The Training of Orienteering Mentally and Physically, Ability of Injure Protect and Orienteering Management & Ability to Program and Proceed Orienteering Training. Besides Ability of Injure Protect and Orienteering Management, Coaches who currently provide direction to orienteering team or player are evaluated more specialized in the other categories than others not.
