There are five main purposes in this study: (1) to understand the current situation of teachers’ work values and teaching effectiveness. (2) to compare the differences of teachers’ work values and teaching effectiveness between different personal backgrounds. (3) to analyze the relationship between teachers’ work values and teaching effectiveness. (4) to explore the forecasting ability of teachers’ personal backgrounds and work values on teaching effectiveness. (5) to conclude the research results and to propose some suggestions for improving teachers’ teaching effectiveness. In order to achieve these purposes, the researcher of this study applied literature review and questionnaires survey. The survey instrument was “Junior high school teachers’ working values and teaching effectiveness questionnaire”, designed by the researcher. The 311 teachers were randomly stratified sampled form public junior high schools in Taichung County. The questionnaire data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test , one way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and stepwise multiple regression by SPSS for Windows 10.0 Edition. The study has the following findings: 1.In current situation, the degree of teachers’ working values was middle, and the degree of teaching effectiveness is above the average. 2.Gender, educational background, length of service and duty had the significant effects on junior high school teachers’ work values. 3.Gender and educational background had the significant effects on junior high school teachers’ teaching effectiveness. 4.There were positive correlations among teachers’ work values and teaching effectiveness. 5.The teachers’ personal background variables and teachers’ work values could predict teaching effectiveness efficiently. Finally, according to the findings, the research proposed several suggestions for the educational administration authorities, schools, teachers, and further study.
