Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 94 === The purposes of this study were to investigate whether learning ability on Chinese language is different between children of foreign mother and children of native mother in Taipei. In addition, it was aimed to explore whether the learning environment of children’s family had any influence on their Chinese language development. Questionnaires of family learning environment designed by the researcher were answered by father with foreign wife to gather the information about family learning environment of these children. Besides, a reading test, an oral language test, and a basic writing test were used to gather the data of children’s attainment on Chinese language. It was found that Chinese language abilities of children of foreign spouse differed in great range;some scored above average, yet some scored significantly below average. Overall, the factors of father’s educational level, mother’s educational level, SES, and the family learning environment played important role in these children’s Chinese language development. Apart from the above findings, suggestions based on results were discussed concerning schools and the public.
