Furthermore, the researcher analyzed the differences of Taipei City elementary school principals’ working pressure and their strategies based on different background variables. The suggestions are made based on the research results as reference for Taipei City elementary school principals, the educational administrations, and future researches. The research adopted the methods of literature analysis and questionnaire survey. The subjects are the elementary school principals in Taipei City. The research tool is the self-created scales of “Questionnaire of Elementary School Principals’ Working Pressure” and “Questionnaire of Elementary School Principals’ Strategies for Pressure.” A questionnaire survey had been conducted. The data gathered were analyzed with the software of SPSS version 10.0 and by the methods of descriptive statistics, independent-sample T-test, one-way ANOVA, and LSD. The following conclusions were made according to the research results: 1. The principals in Taipei City are of medium working pressure. 2. Among all kinds of working pressure for Taipei City elementary school principals, “the working load” brings the greatest pressure. 3. Taipei City elementary school principals usually adopt the problem-solving strategy to deal with their working pressure. 4. Taipei City elementary school principals of different educational backgrounds and different districts show significant difference in their awareness of working pressure. 5. Taipei City elementary school principals of different tenure, different school sizes and different districts show significant difference in the strategies they used to deal with working pressure. 6. As for how Taipei City elementary school principals deal with their working pressure, the more positive strategies they adopted, the less working pressure they had. On the contrary, the more negative strategies they adopted, the more working pressure they had. The researcher made the following suggestions according to the research results: 1. Taipei City elementary school principals should have a clear understanding of their roles. They should enrich their professional knowledge, have a clear and correct understanding of pressure, make good use of every positive strategy, implement empowerment, and share responsibility. 2. The educational administrations should adjust elementary school manpower assignment and provide adequate resources according to school needs. The authority concerned should as well reduce work unrelated to school business, build the platform of principal’s knowledge management, and set up the advanced study system for principals. 3. Future researchers can broaden the scope of research subjects, and adopt both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Key words: elementary school principal, working pressure, coping strategy Chen,mu-jin 陳木金 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 202 zh-TW
