碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 藝術與藝術教育研究所 === 94 === The studies and development of traditional embroidery craft in Puzih Abstract The traditional craftsmanship means of the manufacturing skills of living utensils and the decoration to it, therefore it represents the culture from time to time and reflects the life style of common people which describes how human beings make use of their wisdom and creativity to improve their livings. Embroidery skills in the traditional craftsmanship are reckoned as part of the talents and virtue of a woman. While embroidery involves patience, detail minded, and creativities; not only the value of traditional craftsmanship is represented, but also accompany with the concept of art and socio cultural development. Puzih area was one of the four major embroidery areas in Taiwan, however, as the industrial business transform in the 70s, the traditional embroidery was gradually replace by computer in Puzih area.In year 2000, as we pay much attention to the influence of cultural and the whole development of the community, Chiayi County government, Puzih city council and local cultural workshops work together to establish “embroidery crafts” as the unique feature of the city to build “The Embroidery Cultural Centre” and “Chiayi County Embroidery Cultural Organisation” to ensure the program runs continuously in the future. There are many reasons in relation to the development of Puzih City, such as the government policy, social development, education and government funding …etc. Researchers through field studies to analyse the development and found four major hurdles:policy, economy, culture, education , there are some strategies may help the development of the traditional embroidery culture in Puzih,for eximpore, establish the ertified system, promote the embroidery in education, train new generation to pass on the skills,combine the skill with folk activities. manage the resource and funding for the particular culture, create new designs into the industry. Finally, wish for the culture can put into practical in both cultural aspect and in the communities and make it as a local unique feature ,there are five suggestions to promote the embroidery craft in Puzih:the local government should act positively,the embroidery industry should be more creative,local cultured people should find a deeper meanings to it,religion should combine into the embroidery culture.
