Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 國際財務金融碩士在職專班 === 94 === The operational environment of the Taiwanese banking industry has been witnessing drastic changes due to financial reforms and the M&A deals. The going is getting tough, as the market moves at every minute and there will be more M&A activities. The only way to ensure sustainable businesses for the Taiwanese banks is to enhance their competitiveness by restructuring. The regional business banks that have been fairly conservative are now faced with enormous pressures and challenges, in order to avoid being acquired and to survive. In addition, these banks should carry on with their social responsibilities to provide financing services to consumers and small-and-medium enterprises, catch up with the trends of mega banks in the era of internationalization, in order to create more corporate value. This research paper uses Bank T as a case study. First, this research paper views and analyzes literature to gain an understanding of the trends in the financial industry, the directions of the financial reforms the Taiwanese government is driving towards and the impacts to the business strategies of the banking industry in Taiwan. The case study is used to illustrate how to analyze the internal strengths and weakness amid the external opportunities and threats. Finally, an analysis of the strategy and management paves the directions for the future development of Bank T, and as a result, sheds light to its strategic implementations and organizational restructuring. This research paper comes up with the following strategic suggestions after the examination of Bank T’s internal and external environments. 1) Organization restructure by dividing business units and assigning tasks to the professionals of individual fields. 2) Adjustment of branches and channels to break the limitations as a regional bank in order to increase the scope of operations. 3) Enhancement of cross sales of financial products and services to boost profitability 4) Introduction of professionals to improve foreign exchange businesses and risk control capabilities 5) Reforming into a national commercial bank in line with the trend of growing in size for the banking industry in order to enhance market visibility
