Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 資訊網路與多媒體研究所 === 94 === With the popularity of broadband network, IPTV ( Internet Protocol Television ), one kind of multimedia services, has become a new trend of the development of multimedia-broadcasting; however, with the lack of mature technique and imperfection of services, it''s not widely accepted, and these deficiencies need service providers'' endeavor. In this thesis, a novel architecture of DCS (Digital Content Server) is proposed. DCS, which is an integrated service composed of several multimedia servers including Multicast, HTTP, VOD, Download, DRM and Middleware Servers, is a complete and robust architecture of multimedia services. And I will focus on the development and implementation of middleware server. With the assistance of middleware server, the job of controlling other multimedia servers seems simpler, and it release manager''s burden in managing distinct interfaces, even more, middleware server has the ability to simplify the cooperation among servers and provides novel service prototype. For the customers who use the services, the designing conception of EPG ( Electronic Program Guide ) accelerates the response when clients operate at client interface and mitigate the load of server; in another aspect, lower the cost when service provider maintaining the server. Even though that middleware server behaves as the communicator among servers will make it impossible that allowing client to update EPG immediately, this drawback will be solved by cooperation with several solutions which have their own advantages and disadvantages according to the practical needs of service providers.
