First, the structure, basic principle and mathematical model of the switched reluctance motor are introduced. Then, the sensorless method of the drive system is discussed. The sensorless technique, which does not include rotor position sensor, is proposed by detecting the stator currents of the motor, computing the self-inductance from the current slope, and then estimating the rotor position. This thesis proposes the switched reluctance motor applying in a washing machine system. We use a digital signal processor TMS320LF2407A as the system core and develop its software. Based on the proposed sensorless technique, a closed-loop adjustable speed system can be achieved. The experimental results validate that the proposed method is feasible and correct.
