The Q&A system proposed in this work can be applied to analyze breakdowns of Power-Hand-Tool and give us a perfect suggestion of solution. Domain knowledge classification is achieved by the concept of Ontology for this system, and then transform it to the engineering database. That can be applied to user interface to link using, then utilize FMEA (Failure Modes and Effect Analysis) to do the analysis on the project to finding out all potential Failure Modes, and the consequence that may be produced, and utilize TRIZ theory to examine the suggestion of FMEA to finding out the solution which worsens the project. Finally, returning to FMAE to examine this solution whether it causes other destructive modes , in order to offer a user a perfect suggestion of solution. This Q&A system not only can operate independently but also link other systems or engineering agents. Through transfering mechanism of XML , we first enter a question into the system. It can be analysed by this system to get a perfect suggestion of solution, then the XML system can output the result for a user’s reference. Besides, this system of TRIZ_Power-Hand-Tool contradiction matrix’s interface keeps a record of the numbers that a user gets the perfect suggestion of solution each time.
