Each one of them could be used for certain case only because the targets and emphasis studied are usually limited.. The major object of “Preliminary Assessment of Slope Stability” by previous senior, which is called A2-PASS, is designed for the communities built according to the “Law for development, construction and management of hillside community.” In this study, another rapid assessment system, named N2-PASS, is expected to be designed for “dangerous, illegal accommodations in hillside areas.” Based upon slope stability theory, nineteen evaluation items were decided for this rapid assessment system at first. Twenty-eight cases, announced by the Department of Economic Development of Taipei City Government (DED), were then used to examine the assessment index and weighting of each item over and over. Finally, compare the results with those survey reports by DED to confirm or cancel the item as well as its index. Twenty-two sites, with sixty-three evaluated cases, were adopted as the analysis group. Twenty-six cases of another six sites were then used as the verify group, in order to check the analysis results. In the analysis group, 79.2% of results of N2-PASS were found the same as the DED report. And 80.6% did in the verify group. The other 20% ones in difference could be explained by the evidence found in this study. It is obvious that the precision of N2-PASS of this study could be adequately used for a rapid assessment of accommodations in hillside areas in north Taiwan.
