Several strategies for improving the power conversion efficiency are discussed and evaluated. Some comments providing considerations to reduce the power loss during implementation of a switching power supply are given. A high-efficiency switching power supply of 80-W (15V/5.34A) output power is implemented. L6561 and TEA1552 are adopted as the control IC’s for the power factor corrector (PFC) and the DC-to-DC converter, respectively. Soft switching capability is observed. The experimental results of the implemented power supply are satisfactory and confirmed to the theoretical analysis.
