The primary objectives of this thesis include the following items: 1. To realize how the painting courses of new education (1902 – 1919) changed the styles and spirits of Chinese painting. 2. To research how the establishment of ROC, which brought democracy to China, affected the development of art education. In this period, arts profession schools showed up, which indicated that arts became more and more important and was accepted by the public.
