He got rid of the pattern of the traditional classical music, melted the artistic technique with the rich literature foundation that came from independently studied. In additional with romantic that advocates the free creation and the breakthrough of the tradition ideas, all had the enormous influence to him. This created Schumann's work in the musical form, and the sound and the rhythm various aspects, all presented the music grammar and the style which personally melted. Schumann's work op.9,《Carnaval》, was created in 1833, the year of Schumann’s peak time for his piano creation; and《Carnaval》was also one of Schumann’s representative piano work. The entire tune was composed with 21 songs, acculturated Jean Paul’s literary work of “The Mask Ball”. Therefore, the entire tune had the description of each characters and the party scene. Melting the literature and the music was the biggest specialty of the《Carnaval》. This paper will start from the characteristic studies of Schumann piano work. Begin with the explanation of the relationship between piano work and the literature, and the special characteristic of the collection. Furthermore, detailed research of the work op. 9,《Carnaval》, and then discusses the creation background, motivation, musical form, adjusted arrangement, chord and rhythm characteristic, as well as the analysis and annotation for each song.
