This study chose the school nurses of the elementary school in Taipei City as the subjects and carried out the general survey. The tool was self-edited ‘the questionnaire of the school nurses’ role perception and the job stress of the elementary school; the researcher interviewed also part of the subject. The data were analyzed by the t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The findings are as following: 1. the clear role perception and the low stress; 2. the significant difference of the role perception among the school nurses from varied school scales and age and the supervisors support; 3. the significant difference of the job stress among the school nurses from varied education degrees and age and the supervisors support; 4. the significant negative correlation between he school nurses’ role perception and the job stress of the elementary school; 5. the deficiency of the human and material resources, the limited career promotion path and the unsound transfer mechanism; 6. the main stress source from the supervisors and the parents; 7. the lack of the vacation and of the chance of the extended education; 8. the minor group at school. Based on the study conclusion, this paper proposed the concrete suggestions to the authorities, schools, nurse personnel and the further study.
