But the Digital TV will not receive the picture totally when the receiving signal is lower than certain electric field strength. Therefore, together with the progress of the digital technology, the digitization of television broadcasting is the trend worldwide. To push the development of Industry, and to increase the competition capability of the Nation, the Taiwan Government is promoting aggressively the digitization of terrestrial broadcasting. In the mean time, the prediction of electric field strength is very important to set up the television broadcasting network. The major purpose of this Thesis, is to research the receiving characteristic under the different indoor and outdoor conditions, under the established European DVB-T COFDM modulation technology and Single Frequency Network, SFN, which was selected as Taiwan Digital Terrestrial TV broadcasting. Currently the five Taiwanese Terrestrial TV Operators had built their digital TV transmitting systems at nine big broadcasting stations, to broadcast the Digital TV programs over the Country. However, since the landform and surface of Taiwan undulate a lot, the square measure of flats is far less than the hilly and mountain area. Most of the population is concentrated living at the cities of flats. This will create the scene of many high buildings within the cities. Therefore, the indoor receiving of digital TV, would not only happen the fading phenomenon at the transmission path, the electric wave will also happen the refraction, reflection and scattering because of the block of buildings, this will generate the multipath phenomenon and the penetration loss when penetrating the buildings. For this reason, this Thesis would disclose the measurement of real indoor receiving, of the PTS Northern Digital TV SFN (formed by the Wan-Li Broadcasting Station, the Zhu-Zi-Shan Broadcasting Station and the Dian-Zi-Hu Broadcasting Station), for the electric field strength, MER and BER value, and the statistic analysis of the accuracy.
