The study adopted in-depth interview to collect date, and interpretive interaction method for data analysis. There are four psychiatry family leaders, and they come from three different family member groups. The data contains two parts. The first part is aimed at psychiatry family leaders’ life experiences, and the second part is aimed at psychiatry family leaders’ social movement experiences.
The study identifies three major findings. First, after experiencing the process in which their family get sick, the arrogant medical culture, and the dead family member group, the psychiatry family leaders decided to be family leader and build new family member groups. Second, after being family member groups’ leaders, the psychiatry family leaders got rid of the stereotype of them and made the psychiatry issues regarded as the public issues, and claimed their rights and needs in public. Their thoughts and social capitals would influence the orientation of the groups and resources they acquired respectively. Third, discuss the process of practicing social movement. Taking two cases for samples, this part discusses the advancements and limits of the psychiatry family leaders’ social movement. Whether the cooperation among the psychiatry family leaders could be reached influenced their movement power.
