After shutting the mold, machine vacuum one side of the mold, and blow the other side of the mold in the same time. During the process of thermoforming, the blowing pressure cause the deformation of drive shafts and platens. As the clearance exceed this forming mold can be sealed, the mold can not shut completely, and make the products worse. When pursue automation and high quality for vacuum thermoforming machine, the problem of shut clearance become very important, especially in the '' form trim in place machine ''. This research uses CAD software Pro/Engineer to build 3D models of the drive shafts and platens, and transfer files into the CAE software ANSYS to analyze drive shafts and platens by finite element analysis.
