Summary: | 碩士 === 國防大學中正理工學院 === 應用化學研究所 === 95 === In this study, various factors affect the electrocatalytic activity over PtSn/C catalysts investigated: lowering the content of Platinum, pretreatment conditions and modification of carbon black (XC-72) with acid-treatment. A series of PtSn/C catalysts were prepared by the deposition-precipitation method and characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), BET , infared (IR) and temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The electrochemical activity for ethanol oxidation and CO stripping were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV).
Based on the CV results, the following conclusions can be drawn:
1. The formation of PtSn alloy under Pt/Sn atomic ratio of 1.0 promoted the C-C bond breaking and enhanced the stripping of CO.
2. Lowery of platinum to 10 wt% gave the better performance than commercial Pt/C catalyst. The 10Pt5Sn-H2 catalyst showed the better performance on I0.8 (18 mA/cm2), Ip (33 mA/cm2) and lower Ep (0.95 V).
3. Modification of carbon black with acid-treatment raised the content of surface oxidized groups, and surface area (250 → 1100 m2/g) that promoted the stripping of CO.
