Using the UPnP technique and the multimedia player “MPlayer”as the core technology and based on the MagicEyes’ development of its built-in system of MP2520 F Development Kit ARM-based, this integration constructs a suite of home entertainment media center. This home media center controls the image-sound information transmission between each individual personal computer in the family to provide the demand of photo-album appreciation, music listening, movie appreciation, and so on. Furthermore, the combination of partners’ works in the EIS Lab between the music broadcasting system, the digital TV transmission system, and the security monitoring system to construct an information appliance with both impeccable multimedia audio-visual entertainment and home security surveillance that gratifies family members’ needs for the requirement of everyday lives. Practically, the use of the UPnP technique meets the standard and so that it is able to connect to cross-platform and cross-product devices that are UPnP-qualified . For those between possessing of UPnP functions, all have to do is to replace contacts in order to automatically become part of the network, as well as providing service via cyber-ID-verification. The use of the QT/Embedded as the graphic user interface allows family members to easily start; the use of the multimedia player - MPlayer, provides the ability of parsing and playing multimedia files. An improvement has been putting forward aiming at the portion of video process. The research adopts an embedded-system with dual-processor equip with MPEG4 hardware decoding. Therefore, the thesis tries to revise the MPlayer’s program that is associated with video codec for meeting the requirement of hardware-decoding acceleration.
