Forty-seven primary insomnia patients were randomized into 2 groups with single blind method, an ear acupressure group and control group. In order to evaluate patent’s quality of sleep and of life completely, all subject were screened by PSG. Their autonomic nerve activity were evaluated objectively by HRV. The result shows that the acupressure group’s social function concept of SF-36 were improved and superior to the control group’s significantly (p<0.05). The PSQI score of the acupressure group shows remarkable improvement and excels than of the control group (p<0.05). Moreover, the HRV result shows decreased LF/HF ratio and increased HF norm in acupressure group than control group significantly (p<0.01). According to the result, ear acupressure increased parasympathetic nerve activity, decreased sympathetic nerve activity, and improved the quality of life and of sleep on primary insomnia patents significantly.
