Further, it is always the patients’ desire to foresee the post-surgery chest shape in advance. The current implementation of the Nuss operation is manual in most part: acquisition of the 1:1 Computed Tomography (CT) images, superimposition with thin paper and taking measurement to perform surgical planning, production and adjustment of the correction board by manual bending to fit the projected chest shape. The proposed work is to develop a computer-aided system to help the physician construct a three-dimensional model from a series of CT images, predict and interactively adjust the expected correction board before surgery, and perform post-surgery simulation.
