In one hospice ward, the 8 nurses with hospice experience were recruited to participate in this research. An in-depth interview was conducted to explore the participants'' definition, experiences, and felt difficulties of spiritual care. Findings were categorized, interpreted and reinterpreted into the following main issues: 1. The subjcets'' self-awareness affects the spiritual care ability and spiritual growth need. The self-awareness also affects the attitude to spirtual care. 2. The affecting factors are educational level, self-awareness, spiritual courses attended, clinical experience, active willingness to care for patients'' spiritual need and looking for spiritual growth. 3. This paper is trying to expose patients'' death anxiety at various embodiments and its meaning within their own terminal context. The nurses'' responses are interpreted as a process from caring to sharing. 4. This study attempts to construct to bring patients into spiritual care practice, find the directions which inquired into the discussion connecting between the spiritual theories and psychology theories. This research provides a resource for a concrete and feasible in-service educational program and evolutional instrument for spiritual care training.
