It has become the 9th costing of the global burden of disease and injuries. Therefore, many more foreign and domestic scholars would like to have deeper understanding of the related issues. This study aims to explore the hospitalized characteristics among the characteristics, medical departments and the short term time frame of the accident litigant. This research uses the data in “Integrate Road Traffic Accident Data System” of IOT, linking the Road Traffic Accident Data in 2001 with NHI hospitalization Data ranging from 1999 to 2003, and sieve out the diagnose of E-code in ICD-9CM between 810.0 to 816.9 and 819.0 to 819.9. One-Sample t-test is adopted to examine whether there is significant difference in the average medical expense from 2001 to 2003 between pre-accident and post-accident, and the recover time after the accident. With the analysis to define the time frame aids in estimating the short term medical expenses caused of the road traffic accident. In addition, it also help to realize the utilization of the medical departments before and after the accident. The main results of this study: (1) Male is 1.57 times more than female and age by 15-44 year old as majority among the accident litigant. In average medical expense part, male is higher than female and the higher the age range the higher the average medical expenses it costs.(2) Conclude the results from this study. Eight departments are highly related to the road traffic accident are, surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, dentistry, emergency, plastics and urology; the seven subordinate departments are, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology and neurology, and dermatology, tuberculosis, hemodialysis, chinese medicine, anesthesia, radiology, nuclear medicine and psychiatry are the non-related departments.(3) With the short term time frame related to the road traffic accident to define the hospital visit later in a day after the accident as the first hospital visit.
