Business entities can never play the game without considering teaming up and upgrading the competition forces of the whole industry, so as to manage sustainable future. ERP is considered the foundation for electronization, and its diversified application has reached its maturity. The way of business integration shows that future ERP application in the future would consolidate SCM and Data Warehouse into EERP, which would provide more precise and instant information for the enterprises. This article is based on case studies which would lead into insights of two companies that Customizing EERP and Package EERP, and explore their considerations, motivations, and cost-benefit assessment afterwards, especially while they adopt different approaches. 1.On the one hand, Implantation of Package EERP only needs to take differentiation analysis. On the other hand Customizing EERP has to all employees' fully support for a long team to take overall analysis and development. Compare with Package EERP, it will suffer with insufficiency on professional capability and the stability of the application is the inherent concern. 2.To implement Package EERP, the vendor can provide the information of hardware spec and human resource demand base on previous experiences. However, Customizing EERP can only roughly estimate the hardware requirement and the human resource will request by current employee. Once wrong estimated, it will occurs instability of the new EERP system. 3.Customizing EERP can flexible modification after system go-live. Package EERP has to notify system vendor with modification fee, if system has to change. But, Customizing EERP needs to consider the employees' turnover. 4.Customizing EERP with flexible development tool, database and operation platform, it can easily maintained by enterprise IT employees. Due to Package EERP with large framework, it has to train the people or hire the personal person to maintain the system. 5.In general, Customizing EERP seems cheaper than package EERP, but with all things considered, such as its quality, practice, and maintenance, the total cost-benefit profit margin is indeed hard to assess in advance. The reason why business buys Customizing EERP is involved with the quality of the people in their miscellaneous department, company structures, demands and cost. There are cases that after the introduction of their new EERP system, only half of its function is applicable. By contrast, if the company makes good use of development tool, and "temporary" "short-term" professionals, so as to shorten the period of the development, Customizing EERP may perfectly matches their own needs, and future needs of its expansion.
