There has been considerable discussion on the index of Green Building for school construction as well. In order to understand the index of water retention in building site and its application on school construction, it is necessary to perform on-site investigations and case studies. The environment concept in Green Building as the current regulations is still new and at the initial stage in this area. The major goal of this study is to investigate the current use of Green Building in real school constructions and to propose suggestions for future applications. In this research, current literatures in the index of soil water retention in building site were reviewed as the base of the study. In addition, empirical evidence was obtained from field studies, which, hopefully, may contribute to build a sound system of green building and to promote its use on school constructions. Shin-Ming Elementary school and some other elementary school have been adapted as the study sites. The constructions of Green Building in Shin-Ming Elementary school and the ecological pond make this school apart from other schools. Through filed studies of Shin-Ming Elementary school and others, the evaluations of permeable pavement, ecological pond and soil water retention have been completed.
