The subjects of this study were 769 fathers whose children studied in kindergartens located in Miaoli County, Taichung County and Taichung City. Father’s Paternal Involvement scale and Parenting Stress scale were adopted. The questionnaires were coded and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson product-moment correlation. The results were the followings: 1. Generally speaking, the preschoolers’ fathers have higher paternal involvement. 2. Generally speaking, the preschoolers’ fathers feel low parenting stress. 3. There are significant differences among the preschoolers’ fathers’ educational level, working time, vocational level, economic status and no matter their wives work or not. 4. There are significant differences among the preschoolers’ fathers’ educational level, working time, vocational level and economic status. 5. If the preschoolers’ fathers have higher paternal involvement, they would feel lower parenting stress. 6. The preschoolers’ fathers’ educational level, working time and no matter their wives work or not make significant prediction to paternal involvement. 7. The preschoolers’ fathers’ economic status make significant prediction to parenting stress. 8. “Self-actualization” and “ emotion-support” make significant prediction to parenting stress. Suggestions are made according to the results shown above for the young children’s fathers, young children’s mothers, social environment, and future studies. 1. Preschoolers’ fathers who have greater parenting stress shall reasonably relieve their pressure to have a happy family time. 2. To improve the parent-child relationship and make them more adequately conduct the parenting job, fathers shall pay more attention on child caring, offer more parent-child interaction, and be more acquainted with their children. 3. To have the children grow up more physically and psychologically healthily, mothers shall avoid making themselves being gate keeping, allow more paternal mutual parenting participation.
