The result of urban development and economics growth is the change of population structure, in both spatial distribution and aging process. Taichung City has the 3rd highest population density in Taiwan, with total population over one million in 2003. The aging index is about 37.14% in 2006, and still is rising. The main goal of this study is to apply spatial analysis theories and methodologies to explore Taichung City’s population aging and medical resources issue, and try to identify the spatial characteristics of these phenomena. Finally, we will explore the spatial correlation of the medical resources and the population density and Elder in Taichung city. This paper focus on whether the medical resources is in a demanding place or not.
In Taichung city, the result shows that the spatial distribution of medical resources and population aging has difference. But the spatial distribution of medical resources is related with the population density. With the quantity method proves the relationship between the aging process and the plan of city land consolidation(市地重劃).
