Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 保險所 === 95 === The current compulsory motorcycle liability insurance in Taiwan classifies motorcycles by engine volume; motorcycles with engines of 50cc or less are classified as light, those with larger engines are classed as heavy. This is the only standard for premium rates; rates ignore all other motor vehicle factors, personal factors, and geographic factors. This research investigates claim factors for compulsory motorcycle liability insurance, and whether personal factors should be included. Our results show that claims on compulsory motorcycle insurance policies are significantly correlated with: engine volume and brand of insured motorcycle, and age and living area of the insured. Among them, claim rates are higher for insured clients with higher age, motorcycles of lower age and higher engine volume, and for the brands of PGO, YAMAHA, and KYMCO. The claim rate is lower in the Taoyuan and Jungli metropolitan areas. By considering motorcycle engine volume and by replacing light-heavy distinctions with original engine volume (classified by cc), prediction for the claim rate of compulsory motorcycle liability insurance can be improved.
